What We Brought Home from the IBTTA Global Tolling Summit

Eighteen countries. Two cities. One very full week.

The IBTTA Global Tolling Summit took us from a behind-the-scenes technical tour of 407 ETR in Toronto to two days of informative sessions in Montréal.

A strong agenda gets people to a conference. The people in the room make it worth the trip.

We met new people, learned about emerging global trends and upcoming initiatives, and heard firsthand how operators are tackling challenges that look very different depending on where you are in the world. That kind of perspective is hard to get from behind a desk.

"We arrived with a full diary and still left with more than we had planned for," said Pedro Bento, Milligan's Director of Toll Systems and Business Development. "I learned so much from people we do not meet every day. With the recent memorandum of understanding between IBTTA and PIARC, I am looking forward to more of these opportunities to bring the global transportation community together."

On Saturday morning, Pedro moderated an engaging conversation about how tolling organizations worldwide are identifying different risks, weighing their potential consequences, and deciding where to invest before disruption occurs.
